Our Holiday Happy Hour Nevada County
Party Was A Blast!

Everyone had fun at our Happy Hour Nevada County Holiday Party on December 6, 2016! There was a White Elephant Gift Exchange, which was so much fun! Thanks to Ellie Lightfoot for opening her home for the event.

A great group of time bankers turned out for our December 6th, 2017 Holiday Happy Hour Nevada County gathering at founder, Reinette Senum's home in Nevada City. It a fun to share stories and find out more about each other!

Hour Nevada County Teams Up With Sierra Harvest

HNC members learned about how Sierra Harvest is working with schools, farmers, and the community to increase the amount of healthy, fresh food for the county's residents when they attended the informative Good Food Tour at Sierra Harvest's garden. Now Hour Nevada County has teamed up with Sierra Harvest! Members who volunteer can receive Hour Credits for helping at Sierra Harvest.

Sierra Harvest has been working with Cathleen (left) for 2 years and planted and taught her how to have a successful organic garden at her home in Grass Valley. Cathleen has been an avid supporter of Sierra Harvest and along with other time bank members, attended the Good Food Tour in September 2018 (above).

It Was a Success!

The Final

NEVADA CITY FARM TO TABLE BANQUET!

The Third Anuual Nevada City Farm to Table Banquet was a huge success. HNC members made it so!

The Nevada City Farm to Table Banquet returned to Commercial Street on Sunday, August 16th, 2015!  The popular event sold out within 20 hours of becoming available.

Lower Commercial Street in historic downtown Nevada City was transformed into an enchanting setting with the 150 year old New Orleans style buildings and the ever popular terrazzo lights hanging overheard.

One long family-style table of 120 diners filled the streets. The bouquet lined table running along the flowering Commercial Street Boardwalk was the centerpiece of the evening as servers brought out the 6 course, organic family style dinner.

The event was produced by Reinette Senum and catering overseen by Shanan Manuel’s Feast & Gather Organic Catering, including menu creation, farm selection, and some meal preparation. This community affair with additional organic meals was prepared by a host of neighboring restaurants: Matteo’s Public, Three Forks Bakery & Brewing Co., Pete’s Pizza, Treats Ice Cream. The Nevada City Chamber of Commerce served Nevada City Winery's wine and Three Forks beer at its open bar.

Menu included: Nettle pesto, roasted plum & walnut pizza (shaved Asiago), melon smoked pepper gazpacho, BBQ smoked heritage chickens with roasted strawberry salsa, abundant summer bounty salad, heirloom tomatoes with purslane, Manzanita dressing & edible flowers, BBQ garlic ‘rattlesnake’ green beans, and for dessert, grilled stone fruits & honey with Treats ice-cream and Three Forks Cake/ Cookie.

Halfpence & Haypenny played on the Boardwalk that was transformed into the main stage.  This duo comprised of original music and compositions and performed heirlooms of vintage music from Ireland, old Europe, and old time Americana. As the evening unfolded the colorful The Crux played an encyclopedia band of multi-instrumentalists, performing barn dance tunes, klezmer jams, pirate shanties, and bluesy dirges in a theatrical performance style.

In the continued tradition of Cinema Paridiso, The Nevada City Film Festival played another silent film over the Café Mekka wall bringing more festivities to the scene.

The event benefited the First Friday Art Walk; bringing live music, art, and culture to Nevada City every first Friday of the month!

Hay bales and tables and chairs were available for the public and families encouraged to come down and enjoy the film, music, and festivities for free!
